Elijah and Elisha are among the earliest and most influential prophets of Israel. They were both used to call Israel and Judah back to the Lord. Yet, their impact extended far beyond the boundaries of Israel in both space and time, impacting other nations and later times. Their stories form the framework of 1 and 2 Kings. Additionally, their accounts also inform and shape later Jewish biblical and religious texts. Quite significantly, the Elijah-Elisha historical pattern plays and important role in the structure and substance fo the texts of the Gospels. Important people anre pictured against the background of these two key figures in Israel's history. Not only that, but the Elijah-Elisha narrative serves as part of the structure of key sections of the Gospels, themselves. Learn More

  12. A Messianic Commentary: Yochanan (John) Presents the Revelation of Yeshua the Messiah - by Rabbi Gavriel Lumbroso

A Messianic Commentary: Yochanan (John) Presents the Revelation of Yeshua the Messiah - by Rabbi Gavriel Lumbroso

    Regular Price: $19.99

    Special Price $15.99

“Reading Revelation through genuine Jewish eyes is like watching TV in color for the first time.” The Book of Revelation is perhaps the most mysterious, difficult-to-understand book in all of the Bible. Scholar after scholar, theologian after theologian have wrestled with all the strange visions, images and messages given by Yochanan (John), one of Yeshua’s apostles. This book has been seen as prophecy, poetry or both. It’s been looked at as a book that reveals the precise time of Messiah’s return to Earth and it’s also been understood to be talking solely about the historical events of the day, the last part of the first century C.E. Because of the difficulty in getting an accurate understanding of what this critical book is all about, most people have shied away from reading it. Until now! Gavrel Lumbroso has come to the rescue. As a Messianic Jewish rabbi, who has written and taught extensively on the Jewish background of the Faith in Yeshua (Jesus), we have hope. By imagining what was in Yochahan’s mind as he interacted with the words of the Master, Messiah Yeshua, Rabbi Lumbroso has opened up the Book of the Revelation for perhaps the first time since the words were spoken to Yochanan. "No, me do it!" insists the toddler when we try to help. Early on we insist on our independence and, like the toddler, we have our own ideas about what will make us happy. But God has a way of shining His light on our misconceptions and revealing our need for Him. Andrea had an argument with Joel, and then Joel argued with Sid. Just when you feel like a situation is beyond salvaging, God steps in. But does he step in in a way you expect? Ever since she flew the Rabbi to Tennessee, it seemed to Rae that everyone around her was determined to press her to forgave the unforgivable, dredging up memories she'd tried so hard to run from all these months, along with the angst that came with them. But now-finally-it seems like they're leaving it alone-until Heath brings it up-again! -and then Orby! Why are they so insistent that she deal with this right now? Yes, God doesn't want us to spend even one moment longer away from him than we need-but when He presses in with such urgency, could it be there is more to it than just our reconciliation with Him? Could it also be there is something up around that bend that, in His mercy, He doesn't want us to go through alone-even despite our rebellion? Learn More
  14. Petrified Hearts Book 2: The Contending by Jaclyn Zant

Petrified Hearts Book 2: The Contending by Jaclyn Zant

    Regular Price: $24.99

    Special Price $19.99

Book 2 in the novel series. We as Believers want to fight the good fight (1Tim. 6:12); we want to contend for out faith (Jude 1:3) and to stand firm for God. But as a wave crashing against the rocks, we may find ourselves contending against God-knowingly or unknowingly. At times, in our zeal for Him we resist His tugs in our heart, tenaciously clinging to what we know is good-not realizing God's desire is to exchange that good for something better. Still, other times, eclipsed by the storm clouds of our circumstances, our concepts of God's goodness and mercy are challenged-and we don't understand. So we resist Him-warring within, and kick against those goads that would prod us back into his embrace. In God's immeasurable Love, His intentions for us are good-and His purposes for us are always and ever for our good. But when He is momentarily concealed, will we choose to still believe this? God is truly merciful, but His mercies can be tender or severe-and just as the wave stirred by the storm, will we break against The Rock, or draw near and bow before it? Learn More

  17. The Beast That Crouches at the Door

The Beast That Crouches at the Door

    $24.99

What are we to learn from the narratives in the Torah? A walking, talking snake. A tree that bears mysterious knowledge of Good and Evil. A mark upon Cain for all to see. The early narratives in the Book of Genesis are familiar to us from childhood, yet the meaning of these stories often seem maddeningly elusive. For example: By forbidding Adam and Eve to eat from the Tree of Knowledge, did God really not want mankind to be able to distinguish right from wrong? This book examines the early stories in the Book of Genesis, calling attention to the big questions that bother us all, as well as to the hidden subtleties of text and language. As clues and questions are pieced together, deeper layers of meaning begin to emerge. In the end, the reader gains an experience in the richness and depth of Torah. Learn More

  20. A Survey of the Tanach for the Practical Messianic

A Survey of the Tanach for the Practical Messianic

    $20.99

    Out of stock

One of the major reasons that today’s Messianic movement has grown in the past decade is a significant interest by Believers in the Torah and the Tanach. In too many cases, the Tanach Scriptures were not probed in that great a detail in a Jewish Believer’s traditional Synagogue upbringing—and perhaps more serious, a non-Jewish Believer’s Christian experience often witnessed the Old Testament taking a back seat to the New Testament in the Church. With many of the ethical and moral controversies the greater Judeo-Christian religious community is experiencing in our age, a need for God’s people to return to a foundational grounding in the Tanach Scriptures is absolutely imperative. The Old Testament cannot simply be disregarded any more. Many have stayed away from consulting the Tanach not because of a lack of interest, but because few want to have to deal with the controversies it addresses. Unlike the Apostolic Scriptures, constrained to the First Century C.E., the period of the Tanach stretches back all the way to the beginning of the universe itself. Questions like: Who was the Pharaoh of the Exodus? Did God actually condone the genocide of the Canaanites? and Am I the only one who thinks the Prophets are mentally disturbed? are debates that many people do not want to enter into. Even more significant is the effect of critical scholarship which has attempted to divide the Torah into non-Mosaic sources, question the inspiration and historical reliability of the text, and even regard much of the Tanach as Ancient Israel’s mythology. For a Messianic movement that claims to place a high value on the Tanach, it is time that we join in to these conversations. A Survey of the Tanach for the Practical Messianic takes you through the Old Testament from a distinct Messianic point of view. It presents a theologically conservative perspective of the books of the Tanach, but one that does not avoid some of the controversies that have existed in Biblical scholarship for over one hundred and fifty years. The student, in company with his or her study Bible, is asked to read through each text of the Tanach, jotting down characters, place names, key ideas, and reflective questions. Each book of the Old Testament is then summarized for its compositional data and asks you questions to get a good Messianic feel for the text. This workbook can be used for both personal and group study, and will be a valuable aid for any Messianic Believer wanting to study the whole Bible on a consistent basis. Learn More
